0672102 Elijah discussed while descending – Matthew 17:9-13, Mark 9:9-13, A.D. 28 Caesarea Philippi / Mt. Hermon
And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Do not tell anyone what things you had seen, until after the Son of Man has risen from the dead.” And they kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant. And his disciples asked him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” And he answered and said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things, but I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not recognize him, but they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him. And how is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised? Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.” Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist.
