2000683 Jesus commissions the disciples and is received into Heaven –  Mark 16:19-20, Luke 24:50-53,  Acts 1:4-11 Thursday May 26 A.D. 29 Jerusalem

And he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.  And being assembled together with them, he charged them, “Do not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.  For John indeed baptized with water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”  They therefore, when they had come together, asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”  And he said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you will be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

So then it happened, while the Lord Jesus blessed them, that he withdrew from them after he had spoken to them.  He was carried and he was taken up; received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.  A cloud received him out of their sight.  And while they were looking steadfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you saw him going into heaven.”

And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.  And they went out, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed.  Amen and Amen.
