1800666 Soldiers divide the Lord’s clothes – Matthew 27:35-36, Mark 15:24, Luke 23:34, John 19:23-25a, Friday April 15 A.D. 29  Jerusalem

Therefore, when the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothing and garments among them by casting lots on them, what each should take.  They took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat.  And now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.  They said therefore to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says,

“They parted my garments among them.

And for my cloak they cast lots.”

Therefore the soldiers did these things.  And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”  And they sat and watched him there.
