1620648 Jesus taken to Caiphas and questioned – Matthew 26:57-61, Mark 14:53-59, Friday April 15 A.D. 29 Jerusalem
And those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where all the chief priests, the scribes and the elders came and were gathered together with him. But Peter had followed him from a distance, until he came into the court of the high priest. He entered in and was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire to see the end.
Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false witnesses and testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death; and they found none, even though many false witnesses came forward. For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony did not agree with each other. But afterward two false witnesses stood up, came forward, and gave false testimony against him, and said, “We heard this man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’” And even so, their testimony did not agree.
