1570643 Jesus prays in the Garden – Matthew 26:36-39, Mark 14:32-36, Luke 22:39-44, John 18:1, Friday April 15 A.D. 29  Jerusalem

And when Jesus had spoken these words, he came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives.  And his disciples also followed him.  He went out with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden.  Then Jesus came with them to a place which was called Gethsemane, into which he and his disciples entered.  And when he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you do not enter into temptation.”  He said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go there and pray.”  And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, James, and John, and began to be greatly distressed, sorrowful and severely troubled.  Then he said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.  Stay here, and watch with me.”  And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw.  He went forward a little, and he knelt down, fell on his face and on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.  And he said, “Abba, My Father, all things are possible to you.  If it is possible and you are willing, please let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will, be done.”  An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.  And being in agony he prayed more earnestly.  And his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.
