1500636 Prophecy on destruction of Jerusalem, 2nd coming, judgment – Matthew 24:3-26:2, Mark 13:3-37, Luke 21:7-38,  April A.D. 29 Mount of Olives

And as he sat on the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, the disciples, Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him and asked him privately, saying, “Tell us teacher, so when will these things be?  What is the sign that these things are all about to happen and be fulfilled?  What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?”  And Jesus answered and began to say to them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray and watch out that you are not led astray.  For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray.  ‘The time is at hand.’  Therefore do not follow them.  But when you will hear of wars and disturbances, and rumors of wars; do not be terrified and see that you are not troubled.  For all these things must happen first, but the end is not yet and will not come immediately.”  Then he said to them, “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be great earthquakes, famines, troubles and plagues in various places.  And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.  But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.”

“But watch yourselves before all these things, for they will deliver you up to councils and they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.  Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you and you will be hated by all of the nations for my name’s sake.  You will be beaten in synagogues.  You will stand before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them.  It will turn out as a testimony for you.  And the Gospel must first be preached to all the nations.  And when they lead you away and deliver you up, do not be anxious beforehand, or premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given you in that hour.  Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.  For it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.  And then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate each another.  You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends.  And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child.  And children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.  They will cause some of you to be put to death.  And you will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end, the same will be saved.  And not a hair of your head will perish.  By your endurance you will win your lives.”

“And many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray.  And because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.  But he who endures to the end, the same will be saved.  And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.  When therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place where it ought not (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of her depart.  Let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter in, to take out things and anything that are in his house. And let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes and cloak.  And let those who are in the country not enter therein.  For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.  But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are with child and to those nursing mothers who nurse babies and infants in those days!  And pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath, for in those days, there will be great tribulation, such as there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation of the world which God created until now, no, nor ever will be.  And unless those days had been shortened by the Lord, no flesh would have been saved.  But for the sake of the chosen ones, whom he picked out, those days will be shortened.  For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.  And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations and Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”

“Then if any man tells you, ‘Look, behold, here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There,’ ‘Look, there!’ do not believe it.  For there will arise false Christ’s, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so that if possible, they may lead astray even the chosen ones.  But behold, you watch for all things I have told you beforehand.  If therefore they say to you, ‘behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out.  ‘Behold, he is in the inner chambers,’ do not believe it.  For as the lightning flashes forth from the east, and is seen even to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of Man.  For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will gather together.  And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  But when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.”

“But immediately after the tribulation of those days, there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves; men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky and heaven and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken; and then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in the sky.  Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and then they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.  And then he will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other and from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.”

And he told them a parable.  “See the fig tree, and all the trees.  Now from the fig tree learn this parable.  When her branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, and they are already budding, you see it and you know by your own selves that the summer is already near.  Even so you also, when you see all these things, coming to pass, know that he and the Kingdom of God is near, even at the doors.  Most certainly I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, until all these things happen and are accomplished.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.  But no one knows of that day and that hour, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but my Father only.  Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you do not know when the time is.”

“And as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.  For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and they did not know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.  Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left; two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left.  Watch therefore, for you do not know in what hour your Lord comes. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.  So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly as a snare.  For it will come on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth.  Be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.  Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?  Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.  Most certainly I say to you that he will set him over all that he has.  But if that evil servant should say in his heart, ‘My lord is delaying his coming,’ and shall begin to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards, the lord of that servant will come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour when he does not know it, and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites.  There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth there.”

“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.  For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all fell asleep.  But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold the bridegroom!  Come out to meet him!’  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.  And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’  But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there is not enough for us and you?  Go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’  And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.  Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’  But he answered and said, ‘Most certainly I say to you, I do not know you.’  Watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour.”

“For it is like a man, traveling into another country and who having left his house, called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.  He had given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch.  And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; and to each according to his own ability and then he went on his journey.  Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.  In like manner he also who got the two gained another two.  But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.”

“Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reckoned with them.  And he who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents, and behold, I have gained another five talents.’  “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.  You have been faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things.  Enter into the joy of your lord.’”

“And he also who received the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents.  Behold, I have gained another two talents.’”  His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.  You have been faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things.  Enter into the joy of your lord.’”

“And he also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.  And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth.  Behold, you have what is yours.’”  “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant.  You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.  You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.  Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.  For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who does not have, even that which he has will be taken away.  Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”

“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning; lest coming suddenly he might find you sleeping.  What I say to you, I say to all: Watch.”

“But when the Son of Man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.  And before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.  And he will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  Then the King will say to those on his right hand, ‘Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat.  I was thirsty, and you gave me drink.  I was a stranger, and you took me in.  I was naked, and you clothed me.  I was sick, and you visited me.  I was in prison, and you came to me.’”

“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?  And when did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?  And when did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?’  “And the King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’  Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you did not give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.’”

“Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?’  “Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’  And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

And it happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, he said to his disciples, “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

And every day he was teaching in the temple, and every night he would go out and spend the night on the mountain that is called Olivet.  And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple to hear him.
