0581701 Gentile woman’s faith – Matthew 15:21-28, Mark 7:24-30, A.D. 28 Tyre and Sidon

And Jesus arose and went out away from there and withdrew into the region and borders of Tyre and Sidon.  And he entered into a house, and did not want anyone to know it, but he could not escape notice.  And behold, a Canaanite woman came out immediately from those borders, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, fell down at his feet, and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Oh Lord, son of David!  My daughter is grievously burdened with a demon!”

But he answered her not a word.  Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race.  She begged him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.  His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”  But he answered, “I was not sent to anyone but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”  But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”  And he answered and said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”  But she answered and said to him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

Then Jesus answered and said to her, “Oh woman, great is your faith!  For this saying, go your way.  Be it done to you even as you desire.  The demon has gone out of your daughter.”  And her daughter was healed from that hour.  And she went away to her house and found the child having been laid on the bed, with the demon gone out.
