1670653 Caiaphas condemns Jesus – Matthew 26:62-68, Mark 14:60-65, Luke 22:66-71, Friday April 15 A.D. 29  Jerusalem

And as soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying, “If you are the Christ, tell it to us.”  And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus saying to him, “Have you no answer?  What is this that these testify against you?”  But Jesus stayed quiet, held his peace and answered nothing.  And again the high priest asked and said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you say to us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.  Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”  But Jesus said to them, “If I say to you, you will not believe, and if I ask, you will in no way answer.  You have said it.  I am.  But nevertheless, I say to you, from now on, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power of God and coming on the clouds of the sky and heaven.”  And they all said, “Are you then the Son of God?”  And he said to them, “You say that I am.”  Then the high priest tore his clothing, and they said, “Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.  He has spoken blasphemy!  Why do we need any more witnesses?  What further need have we of witnesses?  For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!  What do you think?”  And they all condemned him to be worthy of death.  They answered and said, “He is worthy of death!”  Then some began to spit on him in his face and to cover his face, beat him with their fists, and some slapped him, saying to him, “Prophesy to us, you Christ!  Who hit you?”  And the officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
