1332319 Two disciples get a colt – Matthew 21:1-7, Mark 11:1-7, Luke 19:28-35, April A.D. 29 Bethany
Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. And it happened, when they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethsphage and Bethany, to the Mount of Olives (the mountain that is called Olivet), then Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go your way into the village that is opposite you on the other side. Immediately, as you enter into it, you will find a donkey tied, and a colt tied with her on which no man has ever yet sat. Untie them, and bring them to me. And if anyone asks you and says anything to you, ‘Why are you doing this? Why are you untying it?’, you shall say to him: ‘The Lord needs them,’ and immediately he will send them back here.”
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
“Tell the daughter of Zion,
Behold, your King comes to you,
meek, and riding on a donkey,
and upon a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
And the disciples who were sent went away found things just as he had told them. They found a young donkey tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied him. They did just as Jesus commanded them. And some of those who stood there asked them, “What are you doing, untying the young donkey?” And they said to them just as Jesus had said, and they let them go. And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” And they said, “The Lord needs it.” And they brought the young donkey and the colt to Jesus, and laid their clothes on them. They threw their cloaks and garments on it and on the colt, and set Jesus on them.
