1142316 Jesus raises Lazarus – John 11:38-45, A.D. 29 Bethany
Jesus therefore, again groaning in himself, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it. And Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to him, “Lord, by this time the body is decaying, for he has been dead four days.” And Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believed, you would see God’s glory?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, “Father, I thank you that you heard me. And I know that you always listen to me, but because of the multitude that stands around, I said this, that they may believe that you sent me.” And when he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” He who was dead came out, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. And Jesus said to them, “Free him, and let him go.” Therefore, many of the Jews, who came to Mary and saw what Jesus did, believed in him.
