0601802 Many served on a mountain – Matthew 15:29-39, Mark 8:1-10, A.D. 28 Decapolis

And Jesus departed there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain and sat there. And there came to him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. And he healed them, so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.

And in those days, when there was a very great multitude, and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to himself, and said to them, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me and have stayed with me now three days and have nothing to eat.  And I do not want to send them away.  If I send them fasting to their home, they might faint on the way, for some of them have come a long way.”  And his disciples answered and said to him, “From where should we get so many loaves of bread here in a deserted place as to fill so great a multitude and satisfy these people?”

And Jesus asked and said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”  And they said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”  And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves and the fish.  And he gave thanks and broke them, and gave them to his disciples to serve, and the disciples served the multitudes.  And they had a few small fish.  Having blessed them, he said to serve these also.  And they all ate and were filled and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.  And those who had eaten were about four thousand men, besides women and children.  And then he sent away the multitudes.  And immediately he entered and got into the boat with his disciples and came into the borders of Magadan and the region of Dalmanutha.
