And now when it happened on one of those days, on that day, when evening had come, Jesus saw great multitudes around him. He gave an order to depart to the other side and he said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.”
And there came a scribe, and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” And another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
And leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And when he got into and entered a boat,his disciples followed him and he said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” And other boats were also with him. And so they launched out. But as they sailed, behold, a big violent wind storm arose and came up down on the lake in the sea. And the waves beat into the boat so much so that the boat was covered with the waves and was already filled. They were taking in water and were in trouble, but he himself was in the stern. He fell asleep on the cushion and they came to him, and they woke him up, and told him,“Master, master, we are perishing! Teacher, do you not care that we are dying? Save us, Lord! We are dying!” And he awoke and said to them, “Why are you fearful and so afraid? How is it that you have no faith? Oh you of little faith? Where is your faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the raging of the water and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, and they were being greatly afraid,and said to one another, “Who then and what kind of man is this, that he commands even the winds and the sea and the water,and they obey him?”
