0220504 Peters mother-in-law and others healed – Matthew 4:23-25; 8:14-17 Mark 1:29-39, Luke 4:38-44, A.D. 26 Capernaum in Galilee
And immediately, when they had come out and rose up from the synagogue, Jesus came and entered into Andrew and Simon Peter’s house with James and John. He now saw Simon’s wife’s mother (Simon’s mother-in-law) lying sick afflicted with a great fever, and immediately they told him about her and they begged him for her. And he came and he stood over her and rebuked the fever. And he touched her and took her by the hand and raised her up and the fever left. And immediately, she rose up and served them. And when evening came, when the sun had set, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. They brought to him all who were sick and many of those who were possessed with demons. And he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. And all the city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons. He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew him and that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He himself took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.” And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” And rebuking them, he did not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
And in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him followed after him; and they found him, and told him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And when it was day, he departed and went into a deserted place, and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he would not go away from them. And he said to them, “Let us go elsewhere into the next towns that I may preach there also, because I came out for this reason. I must preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent.”
